Thailand: Part 2

Hello, again! :) I promised that I'll blog about the rest of my Thailand trip, so here I am.

The next day, we went on another tour to Phi Phi Islands. I enjoyed this tour so much more than the James Bond Island tour, mostly because there were less people and the buffet lunch was so much more civilized. In the previous tour, some person took like a whole fish and placed it on his plate. So inconsiderate. >:(

So... back to the topic.

First picture of the day! I took this picture. The lotus flower looks so perfect, right? This is taken in the garden surrounding the villa.

Since this is a post about Phi Phi Islands, let me give you a little side note about it.

Phi Phi Islands consist of many islands, but we only visited the two largest ones as the others are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea. Phi Phi Don Island which is the bigger of the two has people permanently living on the island whereas Phi Phi Lee Island is much smaller. The movie The Beach (the one with Leonardo DiCaprio in it) was filmed at Phi Phi Lee Island. This popularized the islands and Phi Phi Islands came to worldwide prominence.

(Some parts from the above paragraph were taken from Wikipedia)

We left Phuket Island on this boat.

It went a crazy 80 km/h and the engines were so loud, you had to shout for someone to actually hear you. The boat was very shaky and wobbly too, especially when it's stationary.

On the way to Phi Phi Islands, we stopped at some place to look at the fishes swimming around the boat.

The water's SO clear. You don't find sea water like that in Brunei.

Then we went to a shallower area so that we could snorkel. We couldn't snorkel at the area pictured above, because it was about 5 metres deep. Snorkeling was fun, but you have to get used to breathing using only your mouth and you have to kick your legs really hard to stay afloat because the bottom of the sea was at least 3 metres from the surface. I swallowed so much sea water in the process. Bleh. No pictures of us snorkeling, but it looked exactly like the pictures above with the fishes swimming around us. My brother actually caught a fish. :P

After that, we went to Maya Bay at Phi Phi Lee Island to swim in the sea and take pictures.

Maya Bay

Me and my incredibly ugly hair, HUGE forehead and teeny tiny eyes. Sort of channeling Lord Voldemort's slit-like nostrils. Except mine are slit-like eyes. -.-

And this is me and my brothers on the same beach. The other one was swimming.

After that, we went to have lunch on Phi Phi Don Island, where we saw this inexplicably cute dog.

It was playing fetch with that tennis ball. It even went and swam in the water to get it. SO cute.

Then we went to this beach. I forgot what's its name. But it was less crowded than Maya Bay so we enjoyed it more. There were a lot of seashells and broken corals on the beach, so it was pretty painful to walk on.

Brother #3 requested that we bury him, so we did.

And we gave him a tail and drew abs on his stomach (Not pictured). So he looks a merman. HAHA!

We also went snorkeling in the sea here, but there were less fishes on the side we were on. If you go to the opposite side of the island, you can see many more fishes, corals and also sea urchins. Only my eldest brother and father went, because the rest of us were pretty content with what this side of the beach has to offer. And we were afraid to get punctured by a sea urchin or get cut by a coral.

I caked on so much sunblock that when I went into the water, my brother said that I looked like a white monster... which I did. But it's all for preventing skin cancer and a very bad case of sunburn so if I looked like a white monster... it was all worth it. :)

If you can't tell which one is me, I'm the one on the far left, rearranging my goggles.

The funny thing was, while we were scared of getting poisoned by a sea urchin on the other side, I saw a jellyfish on the side of the beach that we were on. It was about 10 inches away from stinging me. I saw it floating in the water while I was looking at the fishes. It was like a pink balloon. A very dangerous pink balloon. I swam/ran back to the shore and was pretty scared. After that, I didn't go back to the water and just chilled around and ate ice-cream. :D

The next post is gonna be about Bangkok. :)

P.S. I baked yesterday! It was a success!!! All the previous cupcake recipes that I followed right, the cupcakes stayed low, ugly and not soft. But then I used a recipe out of a cookbook that I bought and they became tall and fluffy. Yay! :D

P.P.S. Happy New Year's Eve to everyone! It's 12.17 AM now. :P Welcome 2011 with a happy smile on your face because I sure as hell am gonna have one plastered on mine. So excited to say goodbye to 2010 and will wish and hope for 2011 to be a better year. :)

Krabi and Phuket in Thailand are also the best choice for a tropical beach vacation and this is affordable and wonder place for enjoying holidays.
